You can sleep next to lions and tigers at an incredible safari lodge in Kent

BEDDING down (safely) next to lions and tigers used to be something you could only do in far flung destinations like Africa and Asia.

But now, Brits looking for something special to do will be able to book safari-stays right here in Britain.

Port Lympne Hotel and Reserve in Kent has incredible five-star safari lodges built into the middle of a safari park.

You can pick lodges close to wild animals including lions and tigers, as well as wolves and bears.

It means you can sleep, eat and even have a bath just inches away from the animals.

Lion Lodge is particularly impressive.

It’s a world first, and with huge windows in both the master bedroom and the open plan living area, so brave guests are never far away from the five magnificent predators who live at the park.

The loft style building comes complete with a huge open fire and wood-heated Scandinavian outdoor baths on secluded platforms.

The king-size master suite offers a prime view of the lions – Adras, Oudrika and their three adorable cubs – while a spiral staircase leads up to a mezzanine level with two single beds.

There are also two single beds for the kids.

The lodge also boasts a bespoke bar, a six-foot show stopping chandelier and and a private terrace and gardens.

Staying in the Lion Lodge isn’t cheap though – an overnight stay starts from £1,750.

The price includes breakfast, a bottle of bubbly on arrival, complimentary safari, and entrance to Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve as well as Howletts Wild Animal Park.

But you can check into the other lodges for a little less.

The Tiger Lodge costs £1,000 a night, the Wolf Lodge is £549 and the Bear Lodge costs £350.

And if you book before November 29, you can get up to 50 per cent off selected stays until the end of this year.
