Brighton seafront on lockdown after three people mown down by car

TWO men were rushed to hospital with serious head injuries after they were mowed down by a car on the Brighton seafront this morning.

A third man was also taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital after he was struck by a car.

A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and is in custody. The vehicle was later found abandoned.

Police said a large group of men were involved in a fight with weapons.

Some of the men got into a car which then hit the three victims.

The Marine Parade has been closed from the pier roundabout and forensic officers are still on the scene.

Detective Inspector Chris Thompson said: “This is a fast moving investigation and we are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident or has any information about it to come forward.”
