Poundland No Longer Sells Everything For A Pound

Poundland has ditched its ‘everything’s a pound’ price promise, making its name a bit confusing.

From today bargain hunters will be able to pick up products for 50p, 75p, £1, £1.50, £2, £3, £4 and £5 in the chain’s 800-odd stores.

Among the newly priced items, shoppers will be able to pick up a box of Matchmakers for 75p, Nivea Men Fresh Power 0% deodorant for £1.50 and Comfort fabric conditioner for £4.

Poundland says the new prices will offer shoppers more choice and added that around 75 percent of its items will still sell for a quid.

Barry Williams, Poundland managing director said: “We’ve introduced simple pricing in time for Christmas so we can offer customers even more choice and even better value for money.

“Our shoppers love the amazing value we provide and now we can begin bringing that value on wider ranges that they now can find in stores for the first time.

“Our team of talented buyers has moved heaven and earth to bring these ranges to store in time for Christmas and I’d like to thank them for all their hard work.”

Previously, as well as offering items for a quid, Poundland also stocked some special offers for £2 or five quid. However, after trailing a larger range of prices in 24 stores, the company has decided to roll out the new price points nationwide – just in time for Christmas shoppers.

One marked difference in Poundland’s pricing policy came about earlier this year, when the company was flogging Gucci-lookalike trainers for just £9. Marvellous.

The trainers were dead-ringers for a pair of designer shoes, except they didn’t come with a £445 price tag, of course.

The Gucci bee-design trainers were spotted on a bunch of celebrities, including Taylor Swift and Kourtney Kardashian. With its inspiration pretty clear, the Poundland version also featured three bands with a bee emblem in the middle and was made by the chain’s fashion brand PEP&CO.

Poundland also does a fairly impressive knock-off version of aftershave Paco Rabanne 1 Million – called King in Million.

The smell-alike aftershave has earned itself quite a few fans based on the fact that it smells pretty bloody similar – but of course it only costs a pound, saving shoppers £57.

Happy shopping, folks.
